Bar Vlaha, located at 1653 Beacon Street in Brookline, will begin serving traditional Greek fare inspired by the Vlach people, who the restaurant cites as the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking, at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23.

Using locally sourced, regional, and seasonal ingredients, the eatery will dish up entrees like slow roasted lamb, house made pork sausage, and wild boar shoulder. Diners can start their meal with an array of dips and small plates, and end their experience with their choice of four homemade desserts or a platter with one of each.

A variety of wines and whimsically-named cocktails are available to accompany Bar Vlaha's carefully-crafted dishes, including their "pump the briki," made with vodka, Borghetti, Greek coffee, petimezi, St. John Commandaria, walnut, and frappé froth, and their "bros before vlahos," made with lamb washed Monkey Shoulder Scotch, Mad River Rye, oloroso sherry, krana, Carpano Antica, and botanic bitters.

Food and drink are only part of the Bar Vlaha experience, according to the restaurant's website. The space itself is filled with natural materials and textures to evoke the Vlach people's lifestyle, down to the cocktail napkins, which are crocheted from Greek "yiayias."

Bar Vlaha is the latest addition to restaurant group Xenia Greek Hospitality. The group is also responsible for two restaurants, one bar, and a Greek market in Boston, called Greco, Krasi, Hecate, and Agora, respectively.
